Teacher Retirement System of Texas hires Chief Operations and Administration Officer
AUSTIN – The Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) announced Andrew Roth has been hired as Chief Operations and Administration Officer and will start in April 2019. He replaces Ken Welch, who retired in 2018.
Roth comes to TRS from the California State Teachers' Retirement System (CalSTRS) where he served as the executive responsible for the administration of its largest business area, the Benefits and Services branch.

AUSTIN - Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) General Counsel Carolina de Onís has been named to the Aspen Institute’s 2019 Class of its Finance Leaders Fellowship — joining 22 senior leaders around the globe who will participate in a two-year Fellowship and take action towards increasing trust in the global finance industry.

What is the SAA Study and why is it important?
TRS’ Strategic Asset Allocation (SAA) Study refines the Trust’s target allocation to various asset classes that are aimed at helping the Investment Management Division (IMD) achieve the Trust’s stated longterm objectives. Overseen by the Board’s Investment Management Committee, the IMD researches and develops recommendations for Board discussion and approval via its Study.

TRS Trustees Vote to Authorize “13th Check” for Eligible Retirees and Beneficiaries
86th Legislative Session Brings other Significant Changes
AUSTIN – The Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) Board voted unanimously today to authorize a one-time supplemental payment to most members who retired on or before Dec. 31, 2018. The retirees will receive a payment in either the amount of their monthly annuity or $2,000, whichever is less. TRS expects the payments to be issued in early fall.
