The Teacher Retirement System of Texas Board of Trustees adopts rules to implement pertinent legislation. They include matters over which the board is given authority by statutes and those where the meaning of the law is not readily apparent. These rules should be used in conjunction with other applicable provisions of law.
Proposed rules include new rules, amended rules, and repeals of existing rules. TRS provides 30 days’ notice of the intention to adopt a rule before adopting the rule.
Because of recent legislation, and in alignment with TRS’ ongoing commitment to providing information in a clear and concise way, a plain language summary is provided below in both English and Spanish of proposed rules published in the Texas Register (for proposed rules after Sept. 1, 2023).
Note: Adopted rules are published in the Texas Administrative Code (Code) on their effective dates. By using the links below, you may leave the TRS website and go to other Texas state government websites.
