Are you feeling depressed, anxious or overwhelmed? You’re not alone. Stress, grief, relationship issues, job loss or illness can affect your mental and physical health, disrupt daily life and make it harder to cope with everyday challenges.
Therapy can help you work through these issues and learn how to manage challenges. Not all therapy includes medication — sometimes talking to a professional is all you need.
To make an appointment with a mental health provider:
Use Provider Finder® for TRS-Care Standard or TRS-ActiveCare to find an in-network therapist, psychiatrist or other mental health specialist.
Use Teladoc® to schedule a virtual mental health appointment. It's available with TRS-Care Standard or TRS-ActiveCare.
Use Headway to find a mental health provider based on your needs and personal preferences. It's available with TRS-Care Standard or TRS-ActiveCare.
Care Options
-
Outpatient Care
When you’re not in danger but still need help. You can meet with a therapist, psychiatrist, counselor, or other mental health provider while still leading your normal daily life.
-
Inpatient Care
When you need more support and supervision. You’ll stay in a hospital or treatment center. This can also include help for alcohol or drug use, such as detox or recovery programs.
-
Emergency Care
When there’s a mental health crisis. Go to the nearest emergency room or call 911. Tell them it’s a mental health emergency so they’ll send the right kind of help.
Important Plan Information
- Using in‑network providers will help keep your costs lower.
- Some services may require approval ahead of time called a Recommended Clinical Review. You or your mental health provider can call a Personal Health Guide to start that process.
