TRS Announces New Executive Investments Team

AUSTIN –Jerry Albright, recently named the new chief investment officer (CIO) for the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), has announced his new executive team that will lead TRS’ Investment Management Division (IMD), effective immediately:

Jase Auby has been named TRS’ deputy CIO.

Sylvia Bell has been promoted to chief operating officer.

Katy Hoffman will serve as chairperson of the TRS Internal Investment Committee.

GOV. ABBOTT APPOINTS THREE TRUSTEES, INCLUDING CHAIRMAN, TO TRS BOARD

AUSTIN - Gov. Greg Abbott has announced the appointment of Jarvis V. Hollingsworth of Missouri City as chairman, and James “Dick” Nance of Hallettsville and Nanette Sissney of Whitesboro as trustees to the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) Board of Trustees. The new board members will be sworn in and ready to serve at the Dec. 14-15 board meeting.

Teacher Retirement System of Texas hires Chief Operations and Administration Officer

AUSTIN – The Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) announced Andrew Roth has been hired as Chief Operations and Administration Officer and will start in April 2019. He replaces Ken Welch, who retired in 2018.

Roth comes to TRS from the California State Teachers' Retirement System (CalSTRS) where he served as the executive responsible for the administration of its largest business area, the Benefits and Services branch.

TRS General Counsel Named to Prestigious Aspen Institute Fellowship

AUSTIN - Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) General Counsel Carolina de Onís has been named to the Aspen Institute’s 2019 Class of its Finance Leaders Fellowship — joining 22 senior leaders around the globe who will participate in a two-year Fellowship and take action towards increasing trust in the global finance industry.
