Pain in the neck can be…well, a pain the neck. The same goes for back, knee, hip or other kinds of musculoskeletal issues. So, when it comes time to get an X-ray, CT scan, or even joint repair or back surgery, you want the cost to be as painless as possible.
Enter Member Rewards. If you don’t know about or have never used this program, here’s the important stuff:
You can save money on out-of-pocket costs with Member Rewards. This provider search and cost-saving tool can save you hundreds or even thousands of dollars on out-of-pocket costs just by choosing the right provider for your musculoskeletal service or procedure.
Say you need a CT scan on your knee. One provider might charge $225, while another could be well over $1,000. By choosing the lower-cost provider, you just saved real money.
Member Rewards pays you back after your service or procedure. The “Reward” part of Member Rewards means you earn money after using an eligible provider. We’re talking anywhere from $15 to $500, depending on your procedure. Starting Sept. 1, 2026, these rewards will be in the form of a check.
You can save on a wide range of musculoskeletal procedures with Member Rewards. These are not exhaustive lists, just examples!
Imaging and Scans: X-rays, MRIs, CT scans, ultrasounds, bone density, PET scans.
Surgery and Procedures: Joint repair or replacements (including knee and hip), back and spine.
Member Rewards is already included in your TRS health plan. You don’t need to turn it on or ask for access. Just make sure you click on Member Rewards during your provider search. You can do this:

Click the box that says Find Care and Member Rewards.
Choose a Member Rewards-eligible provider.
Make an appointment with your chosen provider.
On your phone
Log in to BAMSM on the BCBSTX App.
Click on the blue bar that says Member Rewards.
Choose a Member Rewards-eligible provider.
Make an appointment with your chosen provider.
Once your claim has been processed and the provider is verified as eligible, you’ll get your reward.
